Karaoke places for NYC kids
Aspiring stars get a taste of the limelight at these local karaoke spots.

Iggy's Karaoke
Karaoke delivers, whether your kid is looking for an out-of-the-ordinary playdate or a birthday party that ensures plenty of audience participation.
Chorus Karaoke
The Koreatown venue opens its doors to the under-18 set every day until 9pm. Thanks to the addition of 100 songs each month, tweens can jam to the latest by pop stars like Adele and Britney Spears. The best part: If your petite powerhouse wants to make a souvenir (or an eventual demo tape), bring a USB drive to plug in to the room’s karaoke system; the device allows you to create a free recording. 25 W 32nd St between Fifth Ave and Broadway, third floor (212-967-2244, choruskaraoke.com). One to four guests $40, additional guests $5 each.
Duet 35
With a music library of more than 18,000 tunes, this spot gives young songbirds plenty of ways to flex their vocal chords. The 13 rooms are tricked out with flat-screen TVs, disco lights and plenty of space to boogie. Kids are welcome before midnight most days and before 8pm on Fridays and Saturdays. 53 W 35th St between Fifth and Sixth Aves, second floor (646-473-0827, karaokeduet.com). $4–$8.50 per person per hour.
Iggy’s NYC
For a megawatt party, divas- and divos-in-training can light up the stage in the back room of this UES lounge and grill. Fueled by pizza and unlimited juice and soda, kids step onstage and belt out disco hits, oldies and stadium anthems. 1452 Second Ave between 75th and 76th Sts (212-327-3043, iggysnewyork.com). $865 for two-hour birthday party (up to 20 kids); reservations required.
Nemo NYC
Any day before 8pm, pint-size performers can prep for their American Idol debut in one of 25 brightly colored rooms. Disney fans can try their hand at “A Whole New World” and “The Bare Necessities” while pop savants debate going for Bruno Mars’s “Grenade” or the Black Eyed Peas’ “Just Can’t Get Enough.” An online database of the melodies helps singers narrow down favorites in advance on the venue’s website. 54 E 13th St between Broadway and University Pl (212-477-1177, nemonyc.com). $4 per person per hour before 7pm, $8 per person per hour thereafter (three-person minimum).
U2 Karaoke
Kids can munch on sliders from Mark or slices from Ray’s while crooning at this East Village spot (outside food and drink is allowed as long as guests clean up after themselves). Singers of all ages are welcome no matter what time it is, but U2 recommends families show up before 8pm. 6 St Marks Pl between Second and Third Aves (212-228-6250, wewantu2sing.com). $8 per person per hour.
