Kindiefest in NYC
This children's music conference is a mini South by Southwest for the preschool set.
Little music aficionados will feel like big shots at Kindiefest. Although the three-day tot-rock conference is industry-only for the first two days, it culminates in a special kids’ music showcase on May 2 that’s open to the public. Catch Recess Monkey’s inventive tunes, bubbly hip-hop from Secret Agent 23 Skidoo, Bill Harley’s melodic storytelling and laid-back ditties from Ralph’s World. The lineup also includes two newcomers to the scene: the Royal Order of Chords and Keys, a garage-rock trio hailing from Easthampton, Massachusetts, and Clementown, an eclectic Twin Cities duo that’s adept at myriad genres including bubble-gum pop, funk and country. Rock on! Sunday May 2 noon–4pm. Littlefield, 622 Degraw St between Third and Fourth Aves, Gowanus, Brooklyn (kindiefest.com). Subway: R to Union St. $15, infants free.—Sara Claro
