Gift-giving made easy
Local stores and sites make buying presents for your tot's friends a breeze.

Purchasing birthday presents for your kid’s playmates sounds easy enough at first, but when party invites arrive in your mailbox by the dozen, gift-giving can quickly turn into a chore—and that’s before you wrestle with the wrapping paper. To the rescue: Three NYC-based services that offer above-and-beyond ways to find the party boy or girl something that they’re psyched to receive.
Gifthero.com
Upper East Side moms (and frequent birthday party attendees) Stefanie Katz-Rothman and Lisa Fielding founded this company after countless overwhelming gift-buying episodes of their own. Our favorite part of the site—which focuses on playthings for children ages two through ten—is the Gift Finder search tool, which picks out a targeted selection based on the age, gender and price range you plug in. For an extra $2, your gift will be sent in wrapping that doubles as a reusable tote.
Boomerang Toys
Because three Elmo puppets at one party are as big a bummer for the givers as for the receiver, each location of this store keeps a neighborhood gift log to avoid duplicate presents. Owner Karen Barwick—whose sons test the toys—assists even further, with free gift wrap. •2 World Financial Center at Liberty St (212-786-3011, boomerangtoys.com); •110 West Broadway between Duane and Reade Sts (212-226-7650); •646 Forest Ave at Bement Ave, Staten Island (718-448-0873)

This Soho boutique, which carries a sweet range of clothing and accessories for newborns and toddlers, manages an online gift registry as well as a concierge service. Enter details about the child in question (gender, birth date) on the store’s website, and within one business day, you’ll receive a list of suggestions from shop owner Allison MacCullough. Some of her faves include a giraffe bank from Elegant Baby and stuffed animals from Jellycat. 128 Thompson St between Prince and Houston Sts (212-982-9465, bundlenyc.com)
