Marshall Chess Club
Bobby Fischer once played a “game of the century” at this West Village chess club. Little pawn stars hoping to follow in his footsteps (er, maybe not politically) can join a two-hour Saturday group lesson with a professional coach. Kids should know how each piece moves before signing up. 23 W 10th St between Fifth and Sixth Aves (212-477-3716, marshallchessclub.org). Fall session begins Sept 10. $30 per two-hour class. Ages 6 to 13.

NY ChessKids
Founded by international chess master Saudin Robovic, NY ChessKids works with children at all skill levels—from beginners to national champions. The group provides private lessons in all five boroughs, and runs after-school programs at several city elementary schools. There's another chess camp i just discovered called Grant's Greatest Chess Players Chess Club.I think the website is ggcpchessclub.wordpress.com, they're not really expensive.
