The Not-Its!
Time Out to Rock
Little Loopy Records, $14
Action-packed and stylish, the Seattle quintet’s sophomore album is the kindie rock equivalent of a summer movie blockbuster. Tracks like boy/girl duet "First Kid in Outer Space" and the thrashing "Green Light, Go!" thump with pop-punk perfection. Tunes have enough kick to satisfy grown-ups pining for ’90s alt-rock, while speaking to tots about weighty subjects like being the new kid ("Welcome to Our School").

The Okee Dokee Brothers
Take It Outside
Okee Dokee Music, $15
The charming Minnesota duo makes bluegrass for kids. Songs skip nimbly among the absurd ("The Extraterrestrials"), the romantic ("Lucy and Tighty") and the poetic ("What We Got"). Standout track "Neighbors" sounds like the sunny indie band Dr. Dog jamming on Mister Rogers’ Neighborhood. The upshot? Grab your banjo, overalls and sense of humor, and get ready for a (bare)foot-stomping good time.

The Jellydots
Jelly Jukebox
drowsy sword music, $10
There’s plenty of goofiness here to delight the kiddos ("It’s Your Birthday," "Adventure Quest!"), but parents will drop quarters into this jukebox for the more delicate tunes. The elegant "Be Like Water" slows the pace with a down-tempo reggae vibe. Sensitive moms and pops should keep tissues nearby for the meditative "Someday Soon" and the ode to motherhood "All of Us."
