Eco-awareness has definitely increased since the first Earth Day back in 1970, but so have environmental threats. Global warming, peak oil, carbon footprints—you can't just plop your children in front of An Inconvenient Truth and hope they get the facts. Fortunately, dozens of local institutions and organizations are working to teach kids valuable lessons about loving our planet. Although Earth Day is officially celebrated on April 22, our roundup of fun family activities proves that it's easy to be green all month long.
