"Drawn in Brooklyn"
The Brooklyn Public Library's new exhibition "Drawn in Brooklyn" showcases the work of some 30 local children’s book illustrators, including Sophie Blackall (Big Red Lollipop), Brian Pinkney (Little Diva) and John Nickle (Never Take a Shark to the Dentist). A series of readings and workshops accompanying the exhibit will give kids a look at the artistic process. Youngsters will sketch characters with Sergio Ruzzier (author-illustrator of Hey, Rabbit!) and design postage stamps with writer-artist Kam Mak (My Chinatown, and the Lunar New Year series for the U.S. Postal Service). All you have to do is explain to your screen-savvy kid what a stamp is for. Click here for a full schedule of workshops.
"Drawn in Brooklyn" is at the Central Library at Grand Army Plaza through Jan 23, 2011.
