The Children's Museum of the Arts will officially move into its new, 10,000-square-foot digs at 103 Charlton Street on October 1. But before CMA closes its Lafayette Street doors for good, check out some of these amazing events. Final farewells were never so much fun.

Kids are encouraged to bring in pictures and special projects or create something brand-new to add to the treasure trove of memories made at 182 Lafayette Street. Sept 15, 22 1–6pm. All ages.

Send well wishes to CMA’s new location, goodbyes to the old space or ideas for the new museum with hand-drawn or -painted postcards that will be mailed to the new building. Sept 16 noon–5pm. Ages 4 and up.

Media Lab staff work with kids to create animated farewell scenes. Sept 17, 18 noon–5pm. Ages 4 and up.

Families can leave a mark—literally—on the old CMA by being part of a handprint mural. Sept 23 noon–5pm. All ages.

Lead the way to the new building by creating a banner or flag to hang on a stroller, bicycle or scooter. Sept 24 noon–5pm. All ages.

Go out with an artistic bang at the final shindig, where visitors can bid adieu to the old location and celebrate a new beginning with an array of art projects. Sept 25 noon–5pm. All ages.

The Children's Museum of the Arts moves from 182 Lafayette St to 103 Charlton St on Oct 1 (212-274-1776, cmany.org). All farewell programming is free with admission.
