Upcoming Williamsburg play space Frolic! teams up with kindie musician Tim Kubart

Just because you're a parent now doesn't mean you have to walk the straight and narrow—in fact, starting this fall, music-loving NYC parents can help foster their kid's creative spirit at Frolic!, a 5,000-square-foot play space located in Williamsburg's The Edge condominium complex (34 North 6th St between Kent Ave and the East River). The brainchild of former fashion industry professionals and neighborhood moms Carey Balogh and Julia Dawson, Frolic! is designed especially for parents who feel passionate about preserving an alternative lifestyle and sharing it with their offspring. Though Frolic's exact opening date has yet to be determined (Balogh and Dawson hope to debut the space in late fall), visitors can look forward to a variety of rockin' facilities, including a 1970 VW bus, a Rolling Stones–inspired tongue slide, a mini concert stage, a dress-up space, adult coffee bar Rook Roasters, creative classes and a handful of play structures. (Frolic's indoor playground is membership-based and is designed for children ages 6 and under.) Even more exciting, the play space will be partnering with children's singer-songwriter Tim Kubart of Tim and the Space Cadets to form Little Rock-its, a three-piece band offering music classes for little rock & rollers (up to six years old), and will offer older kids (ages 5 and up) private music lessons with emerging Brooklyn musicians (guitar, piano and drums). Little Rock-its will also be available for off-site classes, birthday parties and events. Can't wait for the grand opening? Frolic! is sponsoring a by Little Rock-its for tots and parents over Halloween weekend. Oct 29 at 11:30am. The waterfront by The Edge, North 6th St at Kent Ave (frolicplayspace.com).
