What to do this MLK Day weekend: Event picks Jan 16-18
Your kids just got back to school—and there's already a holiday. Thankfully this three-day weekend is a notable one, due to the accomplishments of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Celebrate his legacy at one of the many community-minded activities taking place around the city: The government's MLK website has plenty of ideas, or you can head to the family-friendly events listed in our roundup, such as a March for Peace in lower Manhattan or the MLK Bash at the Queens Library Central Branch.
Looking for more Saturday festivities? Aspiring dancers can check out a complimentary class at the American Tap Dance Center, catch a concert with the Jimmies or attend a "funky chicken dance fund-raiser" held by St. Luke's Academy in Clinton Hill. See all Saturday events here.
Sunday keeps the fun going with a get-up-and-groove concert from the Fuzzy Lemons at the Lincoln Triangle Barnes & Noble as well as one of the final performances of Big Apple Circus: Bello is Back! If you've got a tot looking for more music, we have the details on three additional concerts: Ryan SanAngelo at the Bowery Poetry Club, Erin Lee & Marci at 92YTribeca, and John Carlin and the Kids Music Underground at Joe's Pub. See all Sunday events here.
Enjoy the long weekend!
